The Cat In The Window

.   .   .

. . . here. i’m called hazel, a kitten and a cat.

home’s hove but i’m hollingdean born;
there were many sisters, many brothers, mother and aunt,
father was a wanderer, free and far:
i never saw that rover.
now here. father’s two footed and fond,
like sister, like mother so i’m liked and loved;
all come when i call (quite quickly sometimes).
from here to earth is two hurried leaps
scaring, skittering, the cost one limp leg;
so here, so now, stare through the window’s what i do.
yet here at dawn, at dusk, the man holds me close
opens the window, we watch, we hear;
i nose the air: one day, one day, when . . .

  1. I’m so sorry that it has printed your entire poem on my blog. It usually just replicates a few lines and then sends readers to your blog. I think if you put the photo above the poem, that might happen and I could reblog again. I hate for you not to have the views.

      1. Steve, I just spent a half hour talking to tech support about this. I think it is something you have to set up on your end. You can establish how many lines will be shown before they put in a (more) that send them to your site. This is where to go for instructions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpress-editor/blocks/more-block/2/

        The new post you sent still shows the whole poem on my blog so nothing we can do about it, but this will help you in future reblogs. So you get the views in addition to the person who reblogs you receiving them. I hope this helps…

      2. No inconvenience to me. I just always feel guilty when I publish the whole of someone’s work and they don’t get the views. Just thought you might like to know for the future. I have this feature installed in my blog, although I find sometimes people just copy it whole anyway. Just proper blog etiquette not to.
